Design a Container Image Registry · System Design Interview

Design a Container Image RegistryDesign the service that stores the images a company builds and serves them to every host that starts a container from one. What it has to do

Push an image, and pull it by name and tag or by digest

A pull fetches only the layers the host does not already have

A tag can be moved to a new image, and a digest always returns the same bytes

Scale

Pulls per day: 60 million

Images stored: 4 million
